LEAF Marque Standard Setting

LEAF Marque is an environmental assurance scheme, showing that food has been grown sustainably and with care for the environment. Here we take a look at the process of setting the LEAF Marque Standard.

LEAF Marque standard setting

LEAF Marque is responsible for revising the LEAF Marque Standard at least every 5 years. The LEAF Marque Standard Setting Procedure follows the ISEAL Code of Good Practice for Setting Social and Environmental Standards. Stakeholder engagement is a core part of LEAF Marque and we welcome feedback from all stakeholders on all areas including the LEAF Marque Standard and the Standard Setting Procedure at any time by contacting info@leafmarque.com.

Version 15.0

The LEAF Marque Board has approved the timeframe for v15.0 of the Standard to be in no less than 2 years (i.e. earliest publication 1st October 2018).

Stage 1

Identify existing LEAF Marque stakeholders and producers using existing database. Identify other interested stakeholders.

Communicate with existing LEAF Marque partners and producers using electronic contact methods i.e. email, of the first part of a 2 part consultation period. Communicate with interested stakeholders and intermediaries using press announcements of the first part of a 2 part consultation period.

Collate all comments received from the first consultation period on the current version of the LEAF Marque Standard.

Stage 4

The LEAF Marque Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and working groups to review suggested new control points, amendments and general comments and submit to the LEAF Marque Board. Publish feedback to the interested parties and on the LEAF website.

Publish the draft version of the new LEAF Marque Standard.

Invite comments from the above groups and any new stakeholders to comment on the draft version of the new LEAF Marque Standard.

Collate all comments received from the second consultation period on the current version of the LEAF Marque Standard.
